Camping at Fort Stevens

We went camping over the 4th of July weekend at Fort Steven's State Park on the Oregon Coast. We went with some of the Van Gieson side of the family- Aaron's parents, his sister Sara and her family, his brother Matt, and his Aunt Micki and Uncle Pete. We had a fabulous time and even had great weather for the majority of the time we were there. Please excuse the 7 million pictures- it was too hard to choose.

We spent an Afternoon in Seaside the first day. The kids LOVED the ocean. Brooke surprised us by crawling right in.

While in Seaside we rode the bumper cars and the little train. I love seeing Aaron and Daniel in the itty-bitty train with kids.

Another day at the beach- this time at Fort Stevens. Gotta love the sand and how it sticks to sunscreen.

Around the campfire, waiting for s'mores.

Aunt Sara planned some fun crafts.

Of course we had to check out the "army guy place" (as the boys call it).

Flying kites
And showing our muscles.

We love Papa!

On the 4th, we went to Seaside to watch the fireworks. I don't know that I will ever do it again with kids- it got pretty crazy with all of the fireworks going off on the beach.
Tanner LOVED the fireworks- he was jumping around, so excited.

Brooke really liked the fireworks as well.
Dallin wasn't sure how he felt about the fireworks, especially the loud ones.

We took a trip a few miles down the road to Fort Clatsop. It was a pretty neat place. Lewis and Clark spent a winter there and built a fort. So there is a replica of that, some trails, and a visitors center. The kids thought it was pretty neat.
Yes, that is Dallin under the hat.

This is how Brooke spent her time at the campsite, DIRTY! (I had LOTS of laundry to do when we got home.) Maybe some day she'll learn to walk and not have to crawl in the dirt. Oh well, she doesn't seem to mind.
We have about month to recover from this trip and then we are off to the beach again to camp, this time with my family. Yay!
