Project Before and After

Friday I went to a couple garage sales. It was actually a good garage sale day for us, I found a lot of good things (of course I looked around again this morning- nothing). The last place we stopped by was really dirty, just a bunch of stuff thrown out on the lawn. BUT I did manage to get a barely used Instep bike trailer and this beauty for $25 total. I was excited!
I should have opened it up and taken pictures of the inside. There was one of those circle stick- on air fresheners and a whole lot of mouse poop. It was pretty bad. Like a whole mouse family had been living there. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins... you get the idea. So after a lot of disinfecting, painting, adding a little "fancy wood piece" (I am not sure what it was called), and distressing. This is what I came up with.
I think it turned out pretty cute- not too bad for a used-to-be-filled-with-mouse-turds box.

So here is its new home in Brooke's room. I think it might need a bright little cushion to go on top. We may be making a trip to Joann's on Monday. My boys will be SO excited!

Camping again

Last week we went to the Oregon Coast for our annual Widing family camping trip. We went to Fort Stevens and had such a fun time with everyone. My parents were there, Rod and his family, Katie and her family, Lauren and her boyfriend Jared, and Mikey. Watch out, here comes all of the pictures!

The cutest camper around.

We took a trip to the Fort- to check out all of the army stuff.

The kids and the grandkids. (Is there a weight limit on that jeep?)

Of course we spent lots of time at the beach.

The babies loved it, even though the water was chilly. (Yes, they may be having a wet-onesie contest.)

Tannerand Samantha on the Peter Iredale shipwreck.

Brookie with Grandpa.

Check out that smile! She loves to camp.

It rained a little, so Grandpa whipped out the giant tarp, ropes, and boards- his specialty.

Every night when the kids went to bed we played games and ate WAY too much junk food.

We spent a day in Seaside and checked out the sites. We tried out the bumper cars and go-karts. My boys LOVED it. (And all the grown-ups did too.)

Twins? Aren't they the cutest?

Sneaking into the yurt.

Brookie and Mikey bonded during this trip. What a cheese smile (Brooke that is.)

Aaron told Dallin to make a silly face (while eating a s'more), and this is what he came up with.

Party Time!

Tuesday was Tanner's birthday party with all of his friends. He wanted a "water" party, so everything we did had to do with water. Sara and her kids came down, as well as Grandma and Papa Van Gieson.
Check out how cute the cupcakes turned out! Sara and I had a lot of fun making them.
Squirt gun target practice.
A party just wouldn't be a party without pin the tentacle on the octopus.

After the games everyone swam and jumped on the trampoline with the sprinkler underneath. Yes, that is Dallin laying on the trampoline- but he is happy... really.

I love summertime birthday parties, where the boys can just run around in swim shorts and play outside.

Road Trip!

Were we crazy? Perhaps. But it was fun! Last week we got back from our almost 2000 mile total road trip. My mom, the kids and I, loaded up the "racing mini-van" (as my boys call it) and drove the 7 or so hours to Mountain Home Idaho where Katie and her family just moved. We spent the night there, then added Katie and Isaac to the van. Then we drove the 5 hour drive to Lauren's in Provo. The kids did pretty well stuffed in like sardines- we didn't even have to stop once!

Don't you wish there was room for you?

We took over Lauren's pool at her apartment. The kid's loved it, and we all came back with nice tans.

Dallin is a little bit of a chicken when it comes to water- he stayed on the steps most of the time.

We were also able to spend some time with our good friends the Walkers, who recently moved down to UT. We went to a couple fun parks and swam. We miss you guys!

The Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house was taking place in South Jordan, so we were able to tour that with all of the kids. It was of course wonderful and beautiful.

Hanging out at Lauren's place. All of her roommates were gone, so we stayed with her. So fun!

Brooke and Isaac had a chance to bond. What cuties!

It was fun to be able to take the kids up on campus and show them where I used to go to school. It was my first time back to Provo since I graduated 9 years ago. (I am getting way too old!)
We took them to the Bean Museum. Brooke loved to growl at all the animals, and the boys loved to check all the creepy stuffed animals out.

We also checked out the Paleontology Museum on campus. The boys thought it was pretty cool, dinosaur bones are the best!

We also got to play with Aunt Stacie while in Provo. We love you Stacie!

When we dropped off Katie and Isaac in Mountain Home, we checked out the Air Force Base. The boys thought the planes were pretty neat.

By the end, we were all pretty worn out.

Isn't she pathetic? So sad! This is her one bad crying spell. She was ready to be home and see her daddy (Aaron couldn't come because he was finishing up his summer term). And by the way, she finally learned how to walk while we were in Utah- Woohoo!

We had such a great time, and I really loved having a mom and sisters road trip. Where should we go next girls?
