He did it! And we did it!

Yesterday was an exciting day for us. First of all Aaron gave his thesis project presentation for his MBA program and he PASSED! Talk about a huge weight being lifted off his (and my) shoulders. He has been working non-stop on this project for months now, and was very nervous about presenting it. It is just pass or fail, and if you don't pass you try again next semester (and pay a few hundred dollars), and if you don't pass the second time around, then you are out of luck, no more chances and you just wasted the last 2 1/2 years of your life as well as thousands of dollars. So there was a little bit of pressure on him. But now he is done with that and all he has left to do is finish up one class (his last day is Dec. 3rd) and give a much smaller presentation.

Our other exciting news was we booked our trip that we have been talking about for 2 years now. One night almost 2 years ago, when Aaron was on his way home from school he called- after walking back to his car in the cold and wet- and said that when he is done with school we are going somewhere warm and sunny, and just the two of us- no matter what. Aaron and I don't get out much, and since we've had kids we've only spent the night away from them like twice and we don't get baby sitters very often either (I know, we are totally lame). So this was an exciting prospect to us. So last night after we knew he passed his presentation we did it. We booked out trip! And I am SO excited! At the end of January/beginning of February we are going to spend 9 days in Hawaii!!! We will be celebrating finishing grad school, our 9th anniversary, Valentine's day, and my 30th (gasp!) birthday.
Six nights in Oahu, here.

And then 3 nights in Kauai, here. (This one I am really excited about, it's a 5 star resort, we don't stay at places like that.)

My mom is going to come down and watch the kids. I actually called her after I talked to Aaron that night 2 years ago and "booked" her. Yeah, we really don't get out much. I am just so excited, I ordered a new swimsuit and now we need to start working out like crazy. I've vowed to be "treatless" through the holidays and until our trip (gotta fit into that new swimsuit). I've got 2 weeks under my belt so far. I am trying to get used to not having sugar coursing through my veins.
That is our exciting news! And I am SO excited to have my husband back and to go on our trip!

My Favorite Kind of Morning

Today was a stay at home day for us. Tanner had a little bit of a temperature yesterday, so we decided not to infect the rest of the world and stay at home. I was able to get a ton of laundry and cleaning done. Of course that also means I looked hideous- I did shower and get dressed, but it was back into sweatpants, and no make-up and crazy air-dried ponytail hair (so no one stop by, you'll think it is still Halloween- it's that scary.) Anyways, the stars must have been aligned or something because my children all played together so nicely. It was a miracle. No whining for more t.v., no clinging to my legs, we played legos, painted, and Brooke even played playdough with the boys for like 45 minutes. Why can't every morning go so smoothly? Tomorrow we all go to Winco for our every 2 weeks big shopping trip. That ought to be fun with all three of them... I still have some "emergency suckers" in my purse from Halloween, so we should survive.

I was impressed that Brooke didn't try to put any playdough in her mouth.

But she did manage to put it somewhere else. Hmm... funny thing is it took me a little while to find it after she got down from the table. It didn't seem to bother her. I am sure an earful of playdough wouldn't bother me in the least bit either.

Some Projects

If you know me at all, you know I have a really hard time not being productive (not that it means I am always doing something important, just always doing something) and that there are a few shows that I am a little bit addicted to. So to justify my "couch potatoness," I've been working on a lot of projects while I watch (and Aaron does his homework- although he always seems to have time to tease me about certain shows I like- any Glee fans out there? A little too much singing for him, especially when it was the whole football team singing Single Ladies) . Here are some pictures of a few things I have been up to lately. (My big project I have been working on is sewing a ton of felt playfood for Brooke's Christmas present. I am making it with a couple friends and it is turning out SO cute! If you have no clue what I am talking about search Google images under felt food and you'll see some of the stuff we are copying. There is going to be pancakes, bacon, eggs, sandwiches, hamburgers, chips, donuts, cupcakes, cookies... yeah, we probably went a little out of control.)

Here is my mini-muffin tin advent calendar. I stuck magnets on the back of each square, so I can hide some kind of something inside for the kids. There is a little hole in the tin at the top where I'll thread a ribbon through to hang it.

My sis-in-law Sara, and I made these chalk boards out of her parents old kitchen cupboards- not too shabby for an old cupboard door.

Here is my favorite project I have done lately, that is why there are two pictures. I actually got together with my little craft group to make it, and I am so excited with how it turned out.
Of course I can't take too much credit for these projects, every one of the ideas was stolen from a crafting blog, I am not very good at new ideas- just copying them. Now I need to tackle Brooke's Christmas dress...
