Right on Track

I took little Quentin to the doctor today for his 4 month check up.  He's still my little chunky monkey.  16 lbs. even, and 25 inches long.  He's in the 75th percentile for both weight and length.  I looked back at my blog and Brooke was 16lbs. 13 oz. at her ONE YEAR appointment.  I am not used to this chubbiness.  I love his "squishiness."  As Brooke says "he is delicious!"  On a sad note, he had to get a couple of shots, and he has been very cranky all day.  Shots never phased my other babies, but he's been more sensitive to them.  Not fun for mom or baby.  We'll see how tonight goes....

Quentin is 4 months old!

Our little Quentin is 4 months old today.  I can't even believe how the time has flown by.  He is such a sweet and fun little guy.  We love him so much!  He goes to the doctor for his check up on Monday, so we'll see how he is growing.
I love this one.  He definitely has a right to look concerned when Brooke is near.  She loves him a little too much sometimes.

Look at that chunky boy!
Brooke always wants him to sleep in her bed.
He loves kicking around in the bath tub.
He loves his Daddy!  He was getting him to smile and giggle.

Doesn't he have a cute little sad face?
Tanner carts Quentin all over the place.  This is how I found them one evening, in bed, reading Diary of a Wimpy kid.  They hung out like that for quite some time.
A funny little tidbit:  You know how babies usually have the sweetest smelling heads?  Well I was noticing that after I gave Quentin his bath his head would only smell fresh for a couple of hours.  I thought I just had a stinky headed baby.  Then I started noticing how many people kissed and petted his head.  Dirty mouths, dirty hands...  Then one morning Brooke was "mauling" Quentin like usual and LICKED his head.  With her morning breath tongue.  No wonder the poor boys head doesn't smell like Johnson's & Johnson's for long.  I've caught her licking him two other times since then.  We'll see if she winds up with a hairball.  And Quentin?  He just sits there and takes it.

Lately in Boise

We've been trying to keep ourselves busy while we wait to move into our new house.  The fall weather here has been wonderful, so we've been taking a lot of walks to get us out of the apartment.  I have to admit, I am not missing the Washington fall weather.

We took a nice long walk along the Boise river one Saturday.
Brooke and her signature one-eyed squint.

This is a random picture, but I had to throw it in.  The kids and Aaron were skype-ing with his parents.  Doesn't it look like we have a lot of kids?
We found some nice trails near our apartment, so we've been going there a lot.

It's pretty nice up in the foothills.  There are even some trails that are part of the Oregon Trail- with wagon wheel ruts and everything.

Super Heros

One thing about staying in an apartment with only 2% of my stuff- I have quite a bit of time on my hands.  So, I've been able to do a lot of blog catch up.  These pictures are from last month, right before we left.  We love the Vancouver Library and all of their programs.  They had a super hero workshop where the kids got to make masks, capes, belts, and arm shields.  They LOVED it!  And I thought it was pretty hilarious to see them in all their super hero garb.

Check out the bedazzled mask, love it!

Brooke was very serious about this whole super hero thing, she had a lot of great poses.
The boys thought it was great too.  Although Tanner was a little embarrassed to get his picture taken (he's getting too old for this sort of thing- or so he thinks).  Dallin still thought it was pretty awesome, he wore his get-up for most of the day.

Idaho Military History Museum

Today was super cold and wet.  Like only in the low 40s.  It was in the 80s a few days ago, crazy.  It is teacher inservice today and tomorrow, so we needed to find something to do.  There is a little military museum just a few miles down the road from us, so we decided to check it out.  It was pretty small and we were the only ones there, but the kids enjoyed it.

Typical Brooke...

We might have to go check out more of the outdoor stuff when it isn't so cold and wet, I am a wimp...

A little bit of Boise

We've been in Boise for 3 weeks now, and it has been pretty crazy.  Things have finally started to slow down a little for us- since we are no longer house hunting.  Here are a few things we have been up to...
The Walkers came up to Boise for the BSU game- their bro. in-law is the QB.  They were able to get tickets for Aaron and the boys.  They had a great time.  They are now officially Bronco fans.
We've also been spending a lot of time at parks.  Our apartment is pretty tiny, so we need to get out and play.  (I really need everyone to get out and play.)

I like this action shot.

This is how Quentin still spends a lot of his time.

"Slide-skiing" as Tanner says.

Like the necklace?  (It's a pirate patch.)
We've also spent a lot of time just chilling out and watching too much TV.  We have cable in our temp housing, so the kids are loving it.

Tanner has been a great helper with Quentin.

Vegging on the couch.  I can't wait until we get to move into our new house!  More space and the rest of our stuff to play with.

Isn't he such a cute little chunk?

Dallin is 6!

Yesterday was Dallin's 6th birthday.  He's getting so big!  He was pretty excited to turn 6.  He got his birthday crown at school and he brought rice krispie treats he helped make (with sprinkles on top) to his kindergarten class.
I love his smile!

We went to Red Robin for his birthday dinner.

He picked out a double chocolate cake (smart boy) and a number 6 candle.  He didn't want 6 candles, just one number 6 candle.

Yes, he still has a dirty face from dinner.

He got a present and card with two $5 bills in it from Grandma and Grandpa Widing.  So exciting!

And a new race car track from the rest of us.
Dallin's birthday was a little different from our usual birthday celebrations- since we are staying in our temporary housing- and really don't have much here.  Or know very many people- but he didn't seem to mind.

Here are some things about our 6 year old Dallin:
Dallin is very creative and inventive.
He is never bored- because he is constantly using his imagination to create something new.
He's kind of bossy.
He loves school and is very social.
He tells great stories.
He's a speedy runner.
He has a very witty sense of humor for a 6 year old.

We love Dallin!  He's a very important part of our family!
