Tanner, Tanner, Tanner...

Our after school conversation today made me laugh:

Me:  Did you give your teacher the card you made?
Tanner: Yep
Me:  Did she like it?
Tanner:  Yep, she said it was the most thoughtful card anyone had given her.
Me:  Wow!  What did you write to her?
Tanner:  I can't really remember...

Best Weekend EVER!

Aaron and I had been talking for awhile about how it would be fun to surprise our boys with a trip somewhere.  Dallin had never been on an airplane before and Tanner hadn't flown since he was a baby and could fly for free.  They'd both talked about how cool it would be to actually fly on an airplane to go somewhere.  So last weekend Aaron made that happen.  Saturday morning we all got up and got ready for the day.  We told them we had to go to the mall and do a little bit of shopping.  Of course the boys whined and grumbled about that, especially Tanner.  Instead we pull up to the airport and tell the kids to get out of the car.  They were a little confused, Dallin was a bit hesitant to get out, he thought Aaron was playing a trick on him.
These were their expressions when we asked them if they wanted to go to Portland and watch a Trailblazers game instead of going to the mall.  According to Dallin "this is the best thing you have ever done for me Dad!"

So exciting to be in the airport!
They flew on a smaller prop plane on the way there.
They were a little nervous about the take off, but loved looking out the windows and getting a sprite and cookie.

They made it to Portland!  Nice and cloudy.

They had some time to kill before the Blazers' game, so they saw Wreck It Ralph, each ate a foot long sub, went to the Portland Saturday Market, and shared a banana split.  What more could a boy want?

They were able to hang out by the team tunnel, get high fives, and their programs autographed.

They also lucked out and were sitting in just the right spot to be able to pass down the game ball.  Exciting stuff!
View from the hotel room.
Watching football with Dad.
On the way home they flew on Southwest, so they were able to have the jet experience.
They totally know what to do now in an airplane emergency.  They also found a lot of amazing things in the SkyMall magazine.
It was an awesome weekend for Aaron and the boys.  I loved how excited they were and how amazing they thought everything was.  It was the "best most awesomest weekend EVER!"

Mummy Invasion!

I managed to pull off another themed Halloween for our family. I have a feeling it is probably going to be the last year for that.  I have to admit they looked pretty awesome, I had a lot of fun making their costumes and getting them all "made-up."  We went to the ward party and trunk or treat the Friday before Halloween and then trick or treating on Halloween.  We are very much on candy overload at our house.  We weighed our candy just from trick or treating- 14 pounds!  My stomach hurts just thinking about it.

The whole creepy group.

Brookie was our Mummy Princess.  We had to add a little "glam" to her costume.

Quentin cracked me up.  He was the cutest little mummy running around.
Dallin totally got into character.
As did Tanner.
Check out that family portrait!  I love Halloween!

Farmstead Pumpkin Patch

This week we went to the Pumpkin Patch for Brooke's preschool field trip.  It was so much fun!  The weather was perfect and all of the kids loved it.

Quentin thought it was great. And look at him, he is finally a 100% walker now.
There was a fun kids area with playhouses, here are Brooke and James in jail.
Brooke on the spider-web.

Brooke and 2 of her friends on the hayride to get their pumpkins.

My little poser!

Quentin wasn't sure what he thought about sitting on the pokey hay bale.

There was a fun jumping pillow thing too- do you see Brooke slightly air born?

Riding on the cow train

Quentin loved the corn bin.  And he only ate a few handfuls, so that was good.
There was a little hay maze, perfect for Quentin's size.

Dallin is 7!

Dallin turned 7 on the 4th.  So exciting!  We had a little family dinner- he requested ribs.  When I asked him what he wanted to go along with the ribs he said "maybe steak?"  We went with a baked potato instead.  Dallin also got a model rocket (that according to him goes into the stratosphere) and walkie-talkies, all very "Dallin-ish" presents.  We love Dallin, he definitely makes things more exciting in our home.

Here are a few things about Dallin at 7 years old:

~Dallin has a great imagination and knows how to keep himself entertained.  He very rarely asks to watch t.v. or play a computer/video game.
~Dallin is hilarious.  He has a great sense of humor and makes us laugh all of the time.
~Dallin has an awesome laugh and we hear it a lot.
~Dallin LOVES to talk.  He will talk your ear off if you let him.  In fact, the only concern his teacher had with him at our parent/teacher conference last night was that he likes to talk a little too much.
~Dallin makes friends easily and is very outgoing.
~Dallin is very inventive, he is always coming up with a new creation (which usually ends up using a lot of scotch tape).

Dallin's Birthday Spooktacular

Dallin had a birthday Spooktacular for his 7th birthday party.  It was a lot of fun for all of us.  I had a great time planning the food and games, and of course the kids loved all of the "creepy" stuff.  Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the food.  We had a pretty good spread- mummy dogs, baked bones and ogre boogers, slug puffs, witches fingers, scab crisps, witches brew...  I did manage to get a picture of the cake though.  It was a bubbling cauldron.  It turned out pretty awesome if I do say so myself.
The 7 year old vampire.
Wrap the mummy was one of our games.  The first team to use the whole roll of t.p. won.

Dallin and Landon were the champs.
We searched for eyeballs in brains too.

Yikes!  Check out that werewolf!
This picture cracks me up.  Luke could not wait to get his hands on that cake.  When he finally got a piece he popped a foil covered chocolate eye in his mouth and started chewing- with the foil still on.

The spooky party was a hit.  I wish I had taken more pictures but keeping 10 kids entertained is a busy job.  Happy Spooky Birthday Dallin!
