A Conversation with Brooke

Tonight we went to an Idaho Steelhead's hockey game.  On the way back to our car Brooke was riding on Aaron's shoulders.  It was dark and the stars were pretty bright.  Here is how their conversation went.

Brooke:  I see a star!  I'll make a wish.
Aaron:  What are you going to wish for?
Brooke: To make a bubble.
Aaron:  What else would you wish for?
Brooke: To dance with a prince.
Aaron:  Really?  And what else?
Brooke: To put on a swimsoup (yes soup) and go in a pool.
Aaron:  If you could have any of those wishes, which one would you choose?
Brooke:  To make a big bubble with gum.

I love it!

My Quenty Boo is 6 months old!

Well I guess he is about 6 1/2 months old now...  time flies!  Quentin is such a sweetie pie.  I can't tell you how much we love him.  He brings so much love, happiness, and laughter into our home.  He is so easy to love.  Quentin had his 6 month check up, unfortunately I can't find the little sheet that they gave me with all of his stats, but here is what I remember:

Weight: 17lbs. 13oz. (60th percentile)
Length: 60th percentile
Head Circumference: 95th percentile

So he is growing just fine.  He is my chubbiest baby yet.  I love squishing all his chubbiness!

Here are some things about Quentin at 6 months:
~He just got his first tooth!  My other babies were all around 9 or 10 months, so he caught us by surprise.
~He is very ticklish and will laugh and laugh when he is tickled.
~He can roll over both ways and is working on sitting up on his own.
~He just started eating solids and still hasn't decided what to think about them.
~He loves gnawing on celery.
~Peek a boo makes him laugh like crazy.
~He really likes hanging out in his jumper and exersaucer.
~He still wakes up 1-2 times a night- we are working on that one.
~He's become very grabby and grabs everything- so watch out!
~He's still a very good natured and easy baby (knock on wood...)

Trip To Washington

Christmas day we drove to Washington to spend the week with our families.  It was a lot of fun, we went from family party to family party.  Which also meant we put on about a pound each day- too much good food! Unfortunately I didn't take very many pictures...
Rod got Mason a little dirt bike for Christmas, so everyone had to have a turn.
My boys LOVED it!
We always do a big New Year's party with the Van Gieson side of the family.  We went to Jeremy and Jenny's new house.  It was so much fun, with lots of good food.  The kids had a blast with their cousins- partying late into the night.
Quentin had fun!

Brooke and Kylee did some serious dancing.

Quentin and Owen, aren't they cute?  Grandma VG got them matching outfits- they are about 2 1/2 months apart- and already best buds :)

Brooke LOVES her cousin Kylee!  They are moving to France for 3 years, we are excited for their adventure, but also very sad that  we won't be seeing them as often as we would like.

Christmas!

Every Christmas Eve the kiddos open up an new pair of pajamas.  Of course they always know what the wrapped present sitting under the tree is, but it is still fun to open something.  Even if it is just pajamas.
Aren't they sweet?
Lauren and Jared spent the night on their way to WA.  The kids LOVE Jared and mauled him a bit (or a lot).  They spent Christmas morning with us.

This one made me laugh- so much effort to get into that stocking!
Oh Tanner...

December

We stayed pretty busy in December, still getting settled in the house, and doing "Christmassy" stuff.
Here are the kiddos in their Christmas outfits.  How much longer do you think I can get the boys to match? I don't really know if they notice it.
Look at this handsome fella.  This is an outfit from Katie's boys.  I love it!

We just can't get enough of our Quenty Boo.  He's so easy to love!
We went on a lot of evening walks to check out the neighborhood Christmas lights.  Brooke picked out her outfit for this one.  I have to admit I am loving the dry evenings.  I can't say we did too many winter evening walks in Vancouver.

Check out those handsome guys.  They are getting so old!
Hmmm... Can you tell who has the better appetite?
Decent pictures with 4 kids is always interesting...
Make this one full size to see Quentin's face.  It makes me laugh.
My kids LOVE to decorate sugar cookies.  And I LOVE to eat them the next day when the frosting has made them nice and soft  mmmm...
I filled the frosting bags for them and let them pipe on their lovely frosting designs.  Kind of messy, but they loved it.  And because I am an awesome mom I let them suck out the leftover frosting when we were done.  (Oh yeah, and Brooke's earrings are just clip-on, in case you were wondering.)
That's a gingerbread man tattoo on Dallin's head in case you were wondering.

The masterpieces!  They did them all of them!

Thanksgiving in Meridian

I have a lot of blog catching up to do.  Things have been a little crazy - with moving into our new place, but I think the dust is finally beginning to settle.  Well as much as it can settle with 4 little crazies.

We stayed home for Thanksgiving this year.  The kids had the week off from school which was really nice.  No running back and forth to the school a million times a day.  What we were really excited about was having Grandma and Grandpa Widing visit for the week (Mikey was also here part of the time- we like having him here too).
Grandma the "baby whisperer"

Poor Brooke was sick with an ear infection part of the week- so pathetic!  Poor little girl!
We love having visitors- so if you are in the Boise area, come and say hi!
