Vacation at Ponderosa State Park

We spent a wonderful five days in McCall last month.  Aaron's parents joined us and we had a great time.  Here is my photo journal of our trip.  Watch out, there are a ton of pictures.

We stayed in the Elk cabin at Ponderosa State Park.  The cabins are really nice and so much better than being in a tent.  We all stayed in the loft and Bob and Mary were in the bedroom downstairs.  I was a little nervous about how Quentin was going to do at night and napping, but he did great!  I put a sheet over his pack n' play and turned on the white noise machine next to him and he slept great!.

The first couple days the weather was a little iffy.  It was pleasant, but there was a few thunder storms.  We had a great time playing in the water anyway.

We did a handful of little hikes, here we are at the peninsula of the state park.  It was a beautiful view, but it also had quite the drop off.  So my "I'm afraid of heights only when my children are around" anxiety kicked in, which everyone loves to tease me about.
We took Grandma and Papa on a little hike- the Meadow Marsh Loop.  It was a nice hike... unless you stopped, then you were swarmed by mosquitoes.  Papa supplied everyone with a walking stick.  I love this picture of Brooke.
Aaron found his own walking stick.

Aaron and the kids found this weird moss to experiment with.  They had a lot of fun with it.  I was okay with it not touching my face.

This is were Quenty spent a lot of time hanging out.
We did a sunset drive around the lake, it was beautiful!
There were a lot of great trails to ride our bikes on, so we were sure to take advantage of that.
Aaron and I rode the Huckleberry Trail  and it was a lot of fun, I had never really rode on a trail before- with roots and rocks and "dangerous" things- the uphill parts were super hard, but it was fun to do it together.
Can you spot Aaron?  And no, I didn't have a panic attack with him at the top, just with the kids...

Quentin enjoyed the attention from his grandparents.

There were a lot of great places to fish around the lake.  All of the boys loved it and even caught a couple fish.

We LOVE the sun and being in the water!

The boys went fishing, so the girls built sand castles and waded in the lake.

Serious fishermen.

Not sure what this was...

The boys spent a couple of hours ice skating, I am not sure they were dressed for it, but they had fun anyway.

We ate an embarrassing amount of ice cream here.
Here we are getting ready to leave.  And why is it that the day you leave is always the most beautiful?  It was very hard to leave, it was so beautiful and we love spending time with Grandma and Papa.  We can't wait to go back!
